In the mountains

Distance between the posts now… Follow me on instragram jonsbert for daily updates.

Last week I was far up in the north, in the Padjelanta national park. Epic week… Here are a couple of pics. More are coming.

Lapland

Some more photos from Lapland. Their shot with a pocket camera, but I’m really stoked on how a couple of them turned out!

Here’s a video from super talent Rolf Nylinder that I forgot to post earlier. It’s from a DoD trip to Slovenia this spring. Rolf is the master mind behind Frontside Fly. Follow them/us.

Flyfishing

I sometimes joke and say that I’m a pro skier just so I can get time off and flyfish during summer. If I would be making more money, I guess it would be true. The situation now, though, is that fishing is kind of turning into a job too, since I started writing for some magazines. In another life I might get rich, if that’s good, I don’t know…

ANYWAY!

Just got back from a couple of weeks in the Swedish mountains. Been fishing with my mentor and good friend Stefan Ågren, solid part of the FrontsideFly-crew, and photographer Hans Johansson, who’s magic behind the lens (he’s mainly a still photographer, but made this video:

a couple of years ago, when we had a sweet day in Lungsjöån), a skilled flyfisher, and a good force to have when me and Stefan can’t behave.

Biggest gear-stoke on the trip is a new sleeping bag I got, The North Face Hightail 2S. 850 down makes it super small and light, but still warm enough. Stoked! And it didn’t come as a big surprise that my new Orvis Helios 2 rod worked extremely well either. One level up for my casting and feeling when fishing.

I thought I’d just post about ten pictures a time from these weeks. Here are the first:

Utah shredding and fishing

Shredding and fishing?! Yep… I feel that I’ve been so lucky lately. Got to go to Alta for a meeting with Tecnica and Blizzard. Super nice to meet the guys over there, test some new skis, talk about the future, and just have a good time. Made some new friends, and got to ski with some truly amazing skiers. And I’m not only talking about the athletes, but all the guys at the meeting. Such good times!

Paid a visit to the Soulpole factory one night. Got to do our own poles! Awesome. Thanks Bryon!

Also got to ski a new prototype from Blizzard. Can’t say that much, but I’m stoked as HELL on that ski.

And to top a kind of perfect week off, I got to go fish the Green River together with some great fishermen. It was too good to be true almost. AMAZING place. So greatful… Thank you so much Mike and Brian for taking me with you! And Jed, Bart and Stefano too. Had a very, very good day.

So, here are a lot of pictures. If you’re reading at Freeride.se, you need to click the photos to read the captions, which you should.

Magazines and dinners

Flew back from Stockholm to Engelberg today. Sitting and waiting for my luggage, that I thought would be here already. Lost luggage sucks so bad…

Dry or Die

Bought several magazines that made me stoked today. Latest issue of Flugfiakefeber was one of them, where my fishing mentor Stefan Ågren from Frontside Fly write an article on Dry or Die. Stoked that a couple of my trouts made the photo cut, and that I got to say my meaning on DoD!

Real work

Have been in Bynn since friday now. We’re changing roof on our cabin, and the old roof had to be removed before the carpenters could start. It was a dirty work… But good to fall asleep immediately when you go to bed.

Got some of my winter clothes, AND some biking clothes, from The North Face. So I’ve been just like a child on Christmas eve. Sweet.

Yesterday I was shooting biking with Daniel Rönnbäck in Sälen. Epic! Now I’m going up there again, for some fly fishing and more biking. Cheers!

Amateur and pro

AMATEUR: One of my sweet sponsors (The North Face) are gonna start with some kind of monthly updates. I’m doing mine like a small edit. Here are some screen-shots. You think they will like it?

PRO: I also saw that Transition.se posted a sweet video from Rhythm. I don’t know what that is, but I liked the video! My good friend Rolf Nylinder from Frontside Fly was skating smooth. I like his style. (Hope it’s ok I have an opinion, even though I don’t know shit about skateboarding). Take a look:

Fishing, berries, Sthlm… And a trailer!

Had a nice weekend after the bike race this friday. Bummed I missed the bet, but it was pretty good anyway, thinking about the amount of training I had before…

Was pretty much just picking berries and fishing (was shooting some fishing with Daniel Rönnbäck. Fun!) the last days. Now I’m back in Stockholm, and have some work to do. Pumped to get back into the biking here too, and get back on my full suspension bike (Canyon Nerve XC 8.0). The CF bike was fast, nice, and perfect for that race. But for the biking here around Hellas, this is better.

Still stoked for big cars, that doesn’t drink gas. I was about to buy a bike rack (don’t know the english word here, sorry) for my VW Passat. But I can easily get two bikes and lots of stuff in it if I convert the back seat, so… I don’t really need it. Ha ha. We’ll see when the mud season starts soon though…

And since the skiing season actually is closing in – here’s another trailer from Junkies On a Budget:

Here are some iPhone shots from the weekend.
