Had a couple of sweet days in Engelberg now. We got some snow, and I got a visit, and we did some skiing. Good times!
First time here in Courmayeur for me. Pretty stoked on the place! The snow is not super easy to work with, but in some places it’s still cold.
Food and people are amazing though! Such nice place. And the surroundings are just… on a different level, kind of. It’s more hostile, but mostly humbling…
Here are some photos I’ve been shooting today. It’s full on meetings all day long here in Xavier de le Rue’s house in Capbreton. My partners in crime is also Markus Eder, Sebastian Hanneman, Sam Smoothy, Marja Persson and the two Pou Brother came by too, even if they’re climbers and not in the snowsports team. Good times! The only problem we have, is that Flossie, who’s cooking the food together with her man, is doing it waaay too good, and I think I’m gaining 100 gram per hour. Ha ha.
Conditions are super fun to shred in, but I think we need a reset for the filming. Hopefully it will come!
I feels good to be skinning all day long, but my legs are starting to feel it… So tomorrowI think I’m gonna have a day in the resort, just doing laps in the moguls. Gonna be fun! And I need to get my skiing more solid too, for sure…
Here are some shots from today. If you read at Freeride.se, you need to click the pictures to read the captions.
Don’t know how I can explain this to people who don’t know me very well. I guess the easiest thing would just be to look at my face. This is seconds after Klas gave me a late birthday gift – a pretty heavy book about fire.
Went to Niklas with Beas family yesterday. New favorite on the menu. Creamy…
The last days I had in Engelberg was really epic. Fast pow on top, sunny and warm in the valley. I was shredding with Oskar, Yves Husler (coolest name in snowboarding), Mattias Hargin, Bolling and the rest of the good guys down there. Here’s a video of some of the happy-shred that went down. Enjoy it, and spread it:
When you go to a destination, you always have a time window. There’s always a date when you have to go home. Sometimes you kill it within that timeframe, and sometimes you don’t. That’s the name of the game… We got some good stuff in Haines, but not as much as we wanted. Just a little bit of bad luck with mini-injuries in the group, and too much sun, is enough to make difference between success and mediocre.
Enough of the whining! I’m back in Euroland now. Sitting in Zurich Airport and waiting for my skis, that didn’t make the same flight as me… Engelberg didn’t have the same problem as AK, since it seems like it have been snowing a lot there! So, stoked to ski tomorrow after sitting on my ass for ten days!
…is a good man. Check out his/Funny Farm’s page here. Next year it’s gonna be a new, big house to live in up at 27 miles.
Sitting at the Gardermoen Airport outside Oslo. Just killing time, and hope to not get hungry before my flight, cause that would ruin me… It’s a sushi train restaurant behind me, and I think I have to move. One meal there would approximately be as expensive as one heli hour in Switzerland.
